We offer more than 70 undergraduate degree programs at Buffalo State, as well as countless minor and certificate options. Our most popular majors include Business Administration, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Computer Information Systems, Biology, and Childhood Education, to name a few. We also offer multiple pathways for students to earn a master’s degree, including through accelerated study.

Students with interest in pursuing careers in the healthcare or legal fields are provided with dedicated advisement to help them achieve their goals.
Buffalo State wants our students to be engaged on campus! We offer more than 50 clubs and organizations, 12 Greek Life organizations, and 19 NCAA Division III athletic programs. In addition, students are able to participate in events and activities throughout the year. Our Student Leadership and Engagement Office is committed to an inclusive student-centered environment that creates educational experiences for students that promote leadership, involvement, learning, and success.
Buffalo State offers on-campus housing for students to create their home away from home. We offer 11 different residence halls with traditional-, suite -, and apartment-style housing options. Specialty housing for specific groups and interests is available through our Academic Residential Communities (ARCs). Note: Students residing more than 35 miles from Buffalo State are required to live on campus for four consecutive semesters or until they have earned 60 credits, whichever comes first.

Located in our Campbell Student Union are our two main dining halls – The Bengal Kitchen and retail dining – and our Milligan’s Food Pantry, which provides free resources for students experiencing food insecurity.
Buffalo State offers a variety of free and unlimited academic support, both through cohort-specific programs and general services. The Academic Commons, located in the E. H. Butler Library, is a one-stop shop for student support, offering tutoring, advisement, research services, and more.
Our Counseling Center provides free and confidential support and mental health services to all registered Buffalo State students. These include individual counseling, special focus workshops, urgent care crisis intervention, and community resource referrals, among other services.
The Career and Professional Education (CAPE) Center partners with students, faculty, staff, alumni, employers, community groups, and recruiters to offer personalized services tailored to your students’ goals and aspirations. These include events and workshops, career and major exploration, employment opportunities, and more.

Our Undergraduate Research Office is centered around engaged learning – developing student-faculty collaborations to examine, create, and share new knowledge or works within your student’s chosen field.
The safety and well-being of Buffalo State students, faculty, staff, and visitors is the Buffalo State University Police Department's highest priority. University Police officers promote safety and security on campus by being proactive: They patrol campus routinely, enforce the law, and offer educational programs on safety. The department is committed to both the philosophy and the practice of community policing.
Buffalo is the second-largest city in New York State, but has the feel of a small town with four beautiful seasons, friendly neighbors, and exciting things to do. Our campus is located right in the Elmwood Village and is surrounded by cafés, museums, restaurants, shops, and parks. The city of Buffalo is also accessible by major modes of transportation, making it easy for your student to get to and from home, no matter where that may be.

Transfer admission is based on post-secondary academic performance and current space availability. A minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 (4.0 scale) is necessary for consideration.
Some programs have additional requirements, such as a certain GPA, portfolio review, auditions, etc. Please review our undergraduate catalog for undergraduate program requirements.
