We are grateful for the participation of our school partners who make PDS possible. By welcoming methods courses and student teaching cohorts, SUNY Buffalo State faculty and teacher candidates become members of the school community who seek to support the goals and interests of the hosting school. We value our collaboration as we work together to address common challenges in education.
The SUNY Buffalo State PDS began in 1991 with one school partner. Today, our Consortium includes over 100 school and community agencies with approximately 45 signed agreements each semester. These partners are located in Western New York, New York City, Texas, and across five continents. They include urban, rural, and suburban districts that serve a wide range of P-12 learners.
Mentor teachers are very important stakeholders in the PDS Consortium. Their expertise and willingness to host teacher candidates and student teachers in their classrooms make the clinically rich program of SUNY Buffalo State’s PDS possible.
We are grateful to the hundreds of mentor teachers who help candidates develop the necessary skills, knowledge, and dispositions to become effective teachers.
We welcome all mentor teachers to participate in PDS activities and professional development opportunities.

The Teacher Leader, Certificate of Advanced Study program offers courses that address the many powerful ways teachers can meet three key challenges: affect education policy, create constant improvement through innovative practices, and solve critical issues in schools and districts.
The A Bengal Teaches Here initiative is our way of spreading the word about Buffalo State's amazing teacher education graduates who are serving as teachers and administrators in schools across the globe. Graduates all over WNY and beyond show their Bengal pride by displaying the poster on their classroom/office doors and walls. Mentor Teachers who are alumni of SUNY Buffalo State are encouraged to request a “Bengal Teaches Here” poster to hang in their classrooms.
